You’ll never guess what comes next in this romantic suspense about family secrets and one man’s search to uncover the truth.
Good storyline that alternates between past and present. The pace is slow at times. The characters are interesting and develop well as the story progresses. There are some faith elements, but the author, Kristen Heitzmann, isn’t preachy or knocking you over the head with them. I actually like Rese’s faith development. It seems natural, not an epiphany with no foundation to support it. This is book one of The Michelli Family Series, so expect a few questions to be left unanswered in this first book. Readers will find some resolution for Rese and Lance’s relationship, but I know there is more to develop if this is a trilogy. I’m a “happily ever after” kind of reader and although Rese and Lance decide to try again in their relationship, it seemed a bit lack-luster after all the tension that had been developed. Hoping that book two will be a more tightly written story with a more satisfying conclusion to past and present storylines. (And I hope Ms. Heitzmann will publish some of the recipes that Lance cooks in the story – I found myself drooling at every meal!)
